Pedal Power’s weekly rides start tonight, Tuesday 14 April and all road cyclists are welcome to take part in the 27-mile event.
There are several different groups to suit all levels of road cyclists from the easy-pace Social Group to the fast, almost pro-level Scratch Group. All group rides depart from West Calder Square – just across the road from the shop – and follow the same course through the rolling West Lothian countryside. Group ride departure times every Tuesday night until mid-September are as follows:
- Social Group: 18:15
- Scratch Group: 18.30
- Group 4: 18:31
- Group 3: 18:32
- Group 2: 18:33
- Group 4: 18:34
Jonathan McBain, The Pedal Power owner said: “The weekly rides really are great fun and guarantee a fantastic workout – better than any gym visit. We’ve a group to suit everyone from the social ride suited to riders who have maybe just bought their first road bike and want to learn the basics of group riding through to the scratch group where you’ll be up against some local pro-riders like Gary Hand the ex-Scottish Road Race Champion.”
Things to note: A maximum of 20 riders per group. Only suitable for road bikes fitted with road tyres. Road and cyclocross bikes fitted with disc brakes ARE allowed. Tri-bars or clip on aero bars are NOT permitted and will need to be removed before joining the group.
